Artist Spotlight: Nyaumon

Another day, another fantastic artist to spotlight; today, we get to spend a little time with Nyaumon.

Nyaumon has significant artistic experience, including prior work in the gaming space, most notably for Neopets and other organizations in the sector.

During Esther's Fair, whilst I was rambling in a space, Nyaumon took the time to create and share a whimsical Esther piece. This piece instantly gained my attention and sparked an idea for us to collaborate on the first Esther comic strip.

Without further ado, let's jump into the interview and get to know Nyaumon.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hello! I'm Nyaumon! I like to draw.. a lot. I've been working as a freelancer since about 2009. Previously I worked in-house at Neopets.

Currently, I work with Hatchlings Inc. They do a game based on Facebook. But most recently, I started in on NFTs. I love drawing almost everything, my style isn't solidified, but you can see it in most things I make. I especially like bright neon rainbow hues.

2. How do you get into your creative zone?

I don't tend to do anything special. I just draw what comes to mind first!

3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?

Sketch first; it's always messy. I clear my mind and start sketching.

4. Tell us about your Esther piece?

Luke initialized the idea, and I brought it to life. It underwent extensive revision to get to the bright and colourful piece it turned into. 'Ascension' was the word that came to mind right away when I finished it. Since it can have more than one meaning besides just ascending a flight of steps.

5. What are you most excited about in web3?

The interconnectivity with people. I feel that the space is way more approachable to new people than web2 is.

6. What's the most significant learning experience you've had in web3?

It moves so fast. You can't afford to slow down or stop at any given moment. By the time you realize an idea, people have already moved on to the next thing.
