Artist Spotlight: Nashotobi
It's time to bring on that sinister vibe, and buckle in for this spooky interview. Today we get to know Nashotobi, a writer/artist from the Ukraine who has created an illustrated anthology called Welcome to Shipsgrave.
We met a few weeks ago, geeking out over art; as soon as I caught a glimpse of Nashotobi eerie characters, I immediately suggested we collaborate one day. Fast forward a few weeks, and Nashotobi's schedule aligned, and soon after, I was shocked and delighted to see Esther in horror mode. I was so inspired when looking at this iteration I sought out a few more spooky collabs for a horror Esther set.
Without further ado, let's hear from Nashotobi.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I'm a writer/artist from Ukraine. I've created an illustrated anthology, Welcome to Shipsgrave.
2. How do you get into your creative zone?
By wasting so much time, I need to balance it by doing something productive.
3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?
I'm such a lazy person; for me, the flow is when I just can't give up on the drawing and have to finish it at all costs. I can spend half a day without leaving the desk and forgetting to drink or go to the toilet just to get over it. When in this mode, I imagine from the outside looking in, it seems like I'm suffering :)
4. Tell us about your Esther piece?
I like the simplicity of Esther's design, but that is not my style, so I thought I'd create Esther my way for Esther's fans.
5. What are you most excited about in web3?
A possibility of crowdfunding multimedia IPs through NFTs.
6. What's the most significant learning experience you've had in web3?
Creation of generative art. I think generative art is an instrument often dismissed by artists as not artistic enough, but it can be with enough time and effort investment.
