Artist Spotlight: fauziraisyuli
Today I get to share an interview with Fauzi. When I first saw Fauzi's work, I was intimidated by the details, the colours and the way the pixels moved. All I could think to myself was how the heck does he do it, I must meet this artist, so I reached out. From then to now, I am ecstatic to have collaborated over the past month. We set out to tell the story of Esther waking in the Dungeon; Fauzi pulled out all of the stops with this one and Esther is delighted.
Let's take a moment to jump in and get to know Fauzi.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I'm Fauzi, a pixel artist from Indonesia currently living in Australia. I'm obsessed with atoms that inspired my pixel art. My friends know me as a dreamer; I am excited to hear their dreams, discuss them and try to interpret their meaning.
2. How do you get into your creative zone?
Video games play a significant role in why I'm in the creative zone; since I was a kid, I have wanted to make games, and it seems fun to make our own world through games.
3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?
I make pixel art with vector base in adobe illustrator. I know it sounds weird, but that gives me more flexibility to create frame-by-frame animation without breaking the pixel art rules.
4. Tell us about your Esther piece?
Dream of Esther. She woke up from hundreds of dreams without knowing it. Everything feels like "press start to continue" in a video game. Death & reborn is in the loop. When the door opens, she remembers everything and continues her adventure.
5. What are you most excited about in web3?
web3 makes many things possible, especially in the creative field. I believe web3 will continue to grow and open more opportunities for artists.
6. What's the most significant learning experience you've had in web3?
As web3 continues to grow, so do the people in it. I see a lot of developments both in terms of ideas and quality of work. Enjoy your trip and take a look around.
Thank you, Fauzi, for taking the time to collaborate with me and Esther. This section of the story is special to me, and you totally exceeded my hopes, thank you. If you want to stay up to date with Fauzi, check him out on Twitter.
