Artist Spotlight: KIRKY
Today we have the pleasure of spotlighting @0xKirk (KIRKY)—a music producer specializing in Trap Music and a friend in the space. KIRKY started producing during the pandemic lockdowns and worked on his craft to get to where he is today. He's also an art Maxi with a soft spot for Esther.
I was so happy when KIRKY reached out for a collab; since then, we have been chatting about approaches and settled on a direction for our Platform Peril room.
Ok, I think we are ready to get into it. Without further ado, let's get to know KIRKY.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I'm a music producer who primarily specializes in Trap. I started producing during the pandemic shutdowns and worked on my craft to make it what it is today. I'm also an art maxi.
2. How do you get into your creative zone?
I block everything out. I find sounds and base my music on those sounds.
3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?
I am constantly replacing samples to use in my tracks. When I find it, I'm locked in. Then I pull out my midi controller and play counter melodies that go with the sample being used.
4. Tell us about your Esther piece?
It's a dark and eerie track. It has synth hits that act as a clock counting down to a boss fight and a drop leading to the fight's start. The trap drums represent the boss coming into the scene.
5. What are you most excited about in web3?
Honestly? I'm excited to see new and upcoming artists. I LOVE seeing new pieces, etc. I'm also happy about the use cases of 1/1 art. Particularly ones that people haven't come up with yet, but eventually will.
6. What's the most significant learning experience you've had in web3?
I learned to let go of my thoughts and know to be in the NOW. I understand that a lot is out of my control, but I know I can control certain things. Things that you don't get in Web2.
Thank you so much, KIRKY, for sharing a little about yourself and collaborating with me on this piece. I am excited to one day reveal the looming boss in this piece. If you want to learn more about KIRKY, check him out on Twitter.
