Artist Spotlight: Hans Kristo
Esther has always wanted to visit a Pinocchio-style toy room, you know, that room with the clocks? Thanks to Hans Kristo for bringing that dream to life through this collaboration.
Hans has an incredible style, and I am honoured to have a Hans piece featuring Esther.
We'd love to take a moment and get to know Hans.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, I'm Hans Kristo. I am a visual artist from Indonesia. My work uses both traditional arts and digital media. I really like experimenting with surrealism and abstract pop styles.
Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at one of the universities in Bandung. I have worked traditionally and manually using acrylic and watercolours from 2005 until now. Lately, a lot of work on digital media and motion.
For styles and pictures, my job is heavily influenced by the works of old masters. I especially like works of surrealism as well as contemporary works from Indonesia, America, and South America.
2. How do you get into your creative zone?
I had loved art since when I was little. But I had no contact with art since junior high. Until college, I felt lost because I majored in industrial engineering. And it was only in 2003 that I realized that I had a passion for art.
In 2003, I decided to major in fine arts and continue painting until now. Before getting to know NFT, my works predominantly used traditional media, especially acrylic and watercolours.
3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?
During my work journey, I explored a lot of new media. Especially digital media that I've been using a lot lately. Also started to more or less try to use motion in my work.
4. Tell us about your Esther piece?
In the beginning, I knew Esther was at the beginning I entered as a creator in Formfunction. I see many creators collaborating on Esther's work. I find this very interesting. Then I feel maybe this fits with my work that I've been exploring a lot lately. Since my previous work at NFT NYC, I've worked on many object worlds resembling our natural world. This world is full of toys and symbols that represent our world of reality. And I really want to collaborate with Esther and bring Esther into this world.
5. What are you most excited about in web3?
The thing I like about web3 is the building community—especially the spirit of collaboration. And also new ideas from the people in it. I learned a lot of new things here, not because it's just FOMO but because it's a pleasure to be able to keep exploring new things.
6. What's your most significant learning experience in web3?
The experiences I learn on web3 are the experiences of learning from other creators and collectors. Especially in terms of marketing and social media, including in the community. In addition, I learned a lot about new technologies related to blockchain and its uses.
Thanks so much Hans, for taking the time to work with me and be a part of the Esther timeline. If you want to learn more about Hans, check him out on Twitter.
