Artist Spotlight: Funky Platypus

This week we have a special guest to the Esther-verse; everyone say hello to @Funky_Platypus. A super talented artist who has a unique cartoon style. Not long ago, I spotted a piece, a skeleton on a skateboard with a seamlessly animated loop; in that instant, my eyes lit up. Lucky for me, shortly after a few comments back and forth, @Funky_Platypus reached out and asked to work on an Esther piece; I was delighted.

That leads us to this moment, @Funky_Platypus's artist spotlight, a chance to dig deeper and learn more. So without any more delay, let's jump into the interview.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm a self-taught artist who started as a cartoonist in a local magazine and later worked as a concept and storyboard artist for some animation studios all around Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

These days I'm into NFTs, and currently I'm working on some series on FormFunction and a couple of other platforms.

2. How do you get into your creative zone?

Usually, after midnight when it's silent, while everybody's sleeping, thats the best time for me to get busy.

3. When in the flow, what does your process look like?

It's always by imagination and later transferred to the sketchbook during my smoking breaks, I will then start the process on my PC.

4. Tell us about your Esther piece?

The idea is to make the Mob a whole, assembling them into the battle pose - to show them united as one and get to know them better.

5. What are you most excited about in web3?

This is a good time for everyone to connect and the best part is for artists to have control and access to their own creations.

And then, of course - the money.

6. What's your most significant learning experience in web3?

The space keeps on growing everyday and the quality of the arts is getting better and better.

I'm so glad we got to meet @Funky_Platypus; thank you for reaching out and suggesting that we collaborate. This piece is just the beginning; we have something special brewing that taps into @Funky_Platypus’s animation skills. Until then, come along and say hello to @Funky_Platypus on Twitter.
